Ongoing updates on the City of Leander traffic signal and roadway widening at N. Bagdad Road & Collaborative Way.
The City of Leander undertook a critical transportation infrastructure project on N. Bagdad Road — installing a traffic signal at the intersection with Collaborative Way and widening the road to add a turning lane — impacting our community from November 2024 through spring 2025.
04/03/2025 — The roadways are paved and the traffic signal at N. Bagdad Road & Collaborative Way is in service. Remaining work includes permanent striping and markings, street signs, and replacing the 10' sidewalk with an ADA ramp for the pedestrian crosswalk. Please continue to reduce speed and obey traffic controls in the work zone.
04/02/2025 — The traffic signal at N. Bagdad Rd. & Collaborative Way will activate this evening (9 PM CT). Use caution in the new traffic pattern; this is still an active construction zone.
03/31/2025 — Final paving of N. Bagdad Road (milling and new asphalt) from about 300' south of Collaborative Way to Harrongton Way begins April 1. Expect lane shifts, temporary closures and delays; flaggers will direct traffic.
03/18/2025 — The signals at N. Bagdad Rd. & Collaborative Way will begin flashing Friday, March 21 (flashing yellow on N. Bagdad; flashing red for the Collaborative Way left turn and approach). Use caution adjusting to the new patterns.
02/06/2025 — Roughly 80% of the signal work and 50% of the road reconstruction is complete. Crews will remove the existing 10' sidewalk and curb along N. Bagdad to shift the new right-turn lane; a temporary marked walking path is in place. Signal activation is tentatively late February / mid-March, weather dependent.
01/10/2025 — Traffic poles and mast arms will be installed the week of 1/13. Setting the poles won't impact traffic, but mounting the mast arms requires a brief full-road closure at the intersection (managed by officers, 9 AM–4 PM, stoppages under 15 minutes).
12/18/2024 — Phase 2 road reconstruction begins, building a new northbound lane from Collaborative Way to Harrongton Way for a protected left-turn lane. Please use alternate routes and avoid left turns from Harrongton Way onto N. Bagdad Road.
11/22/2024 — Asphalt paving scheduled for Saturday, 11/23, widening the west shoulder of N. Bagdad Road from Collaborative Way to Harrongton Way. Expect construction noise; residents are asked to seek alternate routes that day.
11/08/2024 — Project kickoff: the City of Leander began installing the traffic signal and widening N. Bagdad Road. Roads remain open to two-way traffic with periodic lane closures; flaggers manage traffic 7 AM–5 PM.
